Andrew Derek Taylor, commonly known as Andrew Taylor, is a professional football player born on August 1, 1986 in Hartelpool, England and plays in the left-back position for Middlesbrough Football Club as of 2008.
Andrew Taylor was selected to wear England’s colors for the 2003 Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) World Youth Championship. He also represented England internationally at the Under-19 level and was a part of the team that finished runners-up to France in the Under-19 Championship held in 2005. Andrew Taylor has won 7 international caps, while playing for the national side’s Under-21 team.
He started playing football at Middlesbrough football club’s youth academy and graduated to the senior club in 2004. In 2005, Andrew Taylor was sent as a loan player to Bradford City, where he performed well and appeared in twenty six games for the club during the 2005-2006 season. During this season, Middlesbrough reached the semi-final of the Football Association (FA) Challenge Cup and the final of the Union of European Football Association (UEFA) Cup. The club’s then manager Steve McClaren recalled Andrew Taylor to the team because of an injury crisis giving him the chance to start in four FA Cup games and appear as a substitute in three UEFA Cup games.
However, the 2006-2007 season was his best at Middlesbrough so far as he went on to start in forty two matches that included thirty four Premier League matches, one Carling Cup match and seven FA Cup matches. During the next season, Andrew Taylor was given the chance to don the club’s colors in eighteen Premier League matches.
Andrew Taylor is regarded as the first choice left-back by Middlesbrough and the club signed a new deal with him in the summer of 2008. During the 2008-2009 season, he played three Premier League matches that included two starts against Tottenham football club and Liverpool football club followed by a substitute appearance against Stoke.
