Andrew Satreibman is a 26-year-old part-time poker player from Vienna, Virginia. A business major, Satreibman works in the finance department at a computer firm in Falls Church, and only started playing poker a few years ago, Hold’em being his favourite game.
Satreibman made his presence known at the 37th World Series of Poker in Las Vegas, the world’s biggest poker stage. He made it into the main event thanks to his brother, Jeff, who had won two seats, and gave Andrew one, while he would compete with the other. Although his brother was eliminated early on in the $10,000 No Limit Texas Hold'em World Championship Event, which saw a record 8,773 entries and a prize pool of an astronomical $82 million, Andrew Satreibman soldiered on, eliminating 2005 champion Joe Hachem on the way.
Andrew Satreibman eventually finished 34th and took home a handsome check of $329,865, which he said he would split with his brother. "I'm emotionally drained. My brain is dead, my body's dead. It's pretty gruelling,” he said soon after being eliminated after a marathon session.
