Andrew Johnson is a professional football player born on May 2, 1974 in Bristol, England and goes by the nickname “Andy” in the football world.


Andrew Johnson started his international football career with the England youth team and was a part of the England Under-20 squad at the 1993 Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) World Youth Championship. But from 1998 to 2004 Andrew Johnson, played for Wales and won 15 international caps for the Welsh team during this period.


His professional football career began at Norwich City Football Club in 1992 and he played 66 games for it, scoring on 14 occasions. His tenure with this club ended in 1997, after which he signed to play for Nottingham Forest. Andrew Johnson made 119 appearances for the club and scored nine goals before his contract period ended in 2001.


West Bromwich Albion signed Andrew Johnson that year and he made his debut as a first-half substitute on September 22, 2001 in a match against Wimbledon. The same year, he netted his first goal for the club in a match against Barnsley Football Club. Andrew Johnson became a regular member of the West Bromwich Albion team and helped it bag the second promotion spot in the division and move up to the Premier League. During the 2003-2004 season he played his 100th league appearance for the club and again helped them to a second promotion in three years. Andrew Johnson was a part of the club till 2006 and played 131 games with seven goals to his credit.


His next move was to Leicester City Football Club in June 2006; but he suffered a string of injuries and had to be on the sidelines. Despite his misfortunes, he fought hard making a strong comeback on February 3, 2007 in a match against Luton Town and was named the Man of the Match.
His tenure with Leicester City ended in May 2007, following which Andrew Johnson was signed by Barnsley Football Club on June 8, 2007 to play as a mid-fielder and was given the squad number 16.
