About Andrew Carver

Dr. Andrew Carver, DPM, received his pre-med education at George Washington University and the University of Miami, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree. After completing his medical education at the California College of Podiatric Medicine in 1976, Dr. Andrew Carver went on to a residency in Podiatric Surgery and Orthopedic Surgery at Parkview Hospital in Philadelphia. Dr. Carver subsequently served another residency in Podiatric Surgery and Sports Medicine in Santa Clara, California, dividing his time between Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, Kaiser Permanente Medical Center, and Valley West Medical Center.

In the three intervening decades, Dr. Andrew Carver, has emerged as an innovator in podiatric practice in both San Francisco and Washington, D.C. His background in sports medicine has drawn high-profile clients, including Joe Montana, Chris Mullin, and Andre Agassi. In his 20 years of practice in San Francisco, Dr. Carver acted as team podiatrist for the Golden State Warriors basketball team and the Oakland Invaders football team, and podiatric consultant for the ATP Sybase Men's Tennis Tournament.

Dr. Andrew Carver’s innovations include invention of the Weil-Carver Hammertoe Implant in partnership with Biomet Corporation of Warsaw, Indiana. This device replaces the standard treatment at the time, insertion of a wire support, with the implantation of a fully absorbable pin that dissolves over 12 weeks. The new procedure dramatically reduces the risk of infection, patient discomfort, and inconvenience, as well as the number of physician visits to complete the treatment. In addition, as one of the first practitioners to adopt the use of The Nomir Near Infrared Computer Guided Laser in his treatment regimens for plantar fasciitis and wart removal, among other ailments, Dr. Carver saves his patients time and money.

Andrew Carver served as Surgical Assistant Professor at the California School of Podiatric Medicine from 1980 through 1985, and participated in Phase III research for the Dermagraft Clinical Evaluation for non-healing ulcerations in diabetics. While in San Francisco, Dr. Carver was a regular contributor to KGO Radio for the “Health Matters,” “Dr. Dean Edell Show,” and “Bernie Ward Show” radio broadcasts. Andrew Carver, DPM, has held memberships with the American Diabetes, American Medical Jogging, and the American and Californian Podiatric Medical Associations, as well as the San Francisco/San Mateo Podiatric Medical Society. Dr. Carver currently practices in the Washington, D.C., area.
