Andrew Bloch is a 41 year-old-professional poker player, born in Orange, Connecticut, US and is currently residing in Las Vegas, Nevada. In 1999 his Harvard education brought him a Law degree, specialized in stock trading and game theory and his Massachusetts Institute of Technology education brought him two electrical engineering degrees in 1992. Interested in card games since he was a little boy, Andrew Bloch used his knowledge to write computer programs that help to determine a player’s strategy in a specific table game. He succeeded beating at the “Hickok 6-card Poker” game, which forced the casino where it was played to abandon the game.
Later in 1992, Andrew Bloch started to participate in live poker tournaments, while he was a part of the MIT blackjack team. At first, he started to play in small $35 weekly tournaments and by the end of the year, he had won one World Poker Finals Texas Hold’em tournament. In 2001, Andrew Bloch made two WSOP and two WPT final tables, finishing third both times. Later, in 2005 he won the $10,000 buy-in Ultimate Poker Challenge II championship event and a WSOP circuit tournament. In 2006 Andrew Bloch finished second at the WSOP $50,000 buy-in HORSE tournament, where he won over one million dollars, after the longest recorded heads up battle in the World Series Of Poker history. Later that year, he won the Pro Am Poker Equalizer Professionals vs. Celebrities TV show, as he defeated Phil Laak, earning the prize of $500,000. In 2008 he finished second in the NBC National Heads-Up Poker Championship, as well as in the WSOP $10,000 Pot-Limit Hold’em World Championship, earning $488,048. With overall of 62 cashes and 8 first place finishes, his total winnings exceed $3,900,000.
Andrew Bloch appears frequently on various magazines and TV shows, he has even taken part in the book “Bringing Down The House”, the documentary DVD called “The Hot Shoe” and Fox’s reality series “The Casino”. Later in time, Bloch released his own instructional DVD about blackjack, called “Beating Blackjack”, which has the goal to explain card counting. He is also a part of the FullTiltPoker.com site, where he plays online poker exclusively, along with other professionals in low-limit games that everyone can afford. Andrew Bloch donates all the money he earns in low-limit games on FullTiltPoker.com to various charities around the world, like when he donated a huge amount of earnings to a region in Sudan, called Darfur.
