Andre Ooijer, born on July 11, 1974 in Amsterdam, Netherlands, started playing football at the age of 5. At 12, he began playing for amateur clubs like Super Development League (SDL). He played his first international game at the 2006 Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) World Cup.
During the 1986-87 season, Andre Ooijer was signed on by Amsterdamsche Football Club Ajax for the reserve team as a midfielder. Andre Ooijer began making a mark at the Dutch football scene in 94-95, when he started playing for Volendam. In the season that followed, Andre Ooijer, moved to another Dutch Football Club Roda JC, and it was here that he made his debut at the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) cup.
Andre Ooijer was signed up by PSV Eindhoven, a sports club in Netherlands for the 97-98 season and he continued to be a part of the team till the 05-06 season. He was at the peak of his career during this period and played a major role in PSV Eindhoven winning the Dutch League Champions in 2001, 2003, 2005, and 2006. He also played in the Champions League for the team and has scored three crucial goals.
Andre Ooijer was signed by Blackburn Rovers, an English Premier League football club, for an estimated £2 million. He scored his first goal for his club and helped it secure a 3-2 win over Everton in their opening game of the English Premier League at Goodison Park.
A versatile defender, Andre Ooijer earned his first cap in June 1999. Though he could not make it to the national squad for the Euro campaign in 2004 and 2008, he was again picked for the Dutch national team for the 2006 World Cup finals.
