Amy Kenton - Professional Summary:
In 1988, Amy Kenton began her career in teaching. She has enjoyed many accomplishments in the field of education, utilizing her skills in a variety of roles. In 1989, Amy Kenton graduated with a Master’s degree in Social Studies Education and accepted a teaching position at Mineola Union Free School District (UFSD). During this time, Ms. Kenton was recognized for her excellence in teaching and received multiple fellowships. Amy Kenton applied her educational background in the fields of social studies and the humanities to developing new classes on human rights and journalism. Additionally, she accepted the position of Chairperson on the Technology Committee.
In 2004, Amy Kenton became the Assistant Principal at Montauk Public School, where she applied her proficiency in the fields of technology and curriculum development to new projects. Ms. Kenton took the role of Chief Information Officer, which required her to use new software programs such as Level 0, the New York State Testing and Accountability Reporting Tool (nySTART), and the New York State Student Identification System (NYSSIS). She drew on her curriculum development experience to become the Chair of the Curriculum Committee, a role in which she coordinated English as a Second Language (ESL) and Academic Intervention Services (AIS) programs to help students who were struggling.
In 2007, Amy Kenton accepted the K-12 Director of Guidance and Assessment position at East Hampton UFSD, where she continued to develop her educational skill set. She was appointed to the role of Chief Information Officer once again, working with Level 0, nySTART, and NYSSIS software while putting into place the school district’s new student management system, eSchool.
In 2008, Amy Kenton joined Baldwin UFSD as the K-12 Director of Curriculum and Instructional Technology. She again worked as Chief Information Officer, applying her knowledge of eSchool and other familiar New York State Student Information Repository System software programs. She also coordinated a district-wide ESL program and completed state grant applications.
This grant application experience opened the door to Amy Kenton’s most recent role as District Grants Administrator for Copiague UFSD, where she prepared budgets and grant applications while coordinating programming funded by compensatory and competitive grants.
