Amy Courter currently serves as founder and chief executive of Advanced Materials Inttl Inc, a corporate venture developing carbon fiber production. In this role, Amy Courter leverages nearly three decades of technology and management expertise to develop new business, manage key technology licensing matters, and strengthen supplier relationships. Amy Courter is also serving as Adviser to 3LG Tech Solutions, a Detroit-based Information Systems software company.
A major general with the Civil Air Patrol (CAP), the official civilian auxiliary of the United States Air Force, Amy Courter served as the commander and chief executive officer of the organization from 2007 to 2011. In this leadership position, she oversaw the CAP’s emergency services, youth and aerospace education programs, and led a volunteer team of over 60,000 individuals. She focused on the basics of setting strategy, providing information to the leaders, bringing new customers and missions to the organization, and being a servant leader - supporting her team to assist them in being the best! The Air Force credited CAP with saving nearly 100 lives per year during her tenure. Using her business expertise, she also grew the organization's services while improving its financial acumen, resulting in high marks on audits.
Amy Courter earned a bachelor's degree in psychology and education with a minor in computer science at Kalamazoo College, where she participated in study abroad and varsity athletic programs. She has also completed an advanced master certificate in Lean Six Sigma and IS Security from Villanova University, and is completing an executive certificate in leadership from Notre Dame University.
