About Amnat Ruenroeng


Amnat Ruenroeng is a boxer who was born on December 18, 1979 in Chon Buri, Thailand. Abandoned by his parents, he was adopted by a couple in Sri Racha district. He initially took up Muay Thai (Thai Boxing) at a small camp near his home. His talent as a boxer was recognized and he was bought by Sor Ploenchit, one of the country's popular boxing camps. Amnat Ruenroeng left the camp and started working as a labor to earn money, but soon realized that boxing is his career. Amnat Ruenroeng joined Por Burapa camp and was boxing under the name “Bangsaen Por Burapa”. He excelled in Thai Boxing and went on to become the flyweight champion of Lumpini stadium.


Amnat Ruenroeng entered the international boxing world and won the bronze medal in the Light Flyweight event of the 2007 World Championships held in Chicago, Illinois. The amateur Thai Boxing president Taweep Jantararoj, who was instrumental in getting Amnat into the team, credited that he trained very hard and possesses a great attitude and immense talent.


The dream of Amnat Ruenroeng was to participate in the Summer Olympics and his hard work and boxing proficiency paved way for him to qualify for the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. Amnat Ruenroeng had his first win in the Olympics when he beat Willie Jack from Papua, New Guinea, making him eligible to compete in the last round of 16 in the 48 kg division. He advanced further and went on to take part in the Men’s Light Fly (48 kg) Quarterfinal 3.
Amnat Ruenroeng is focused on improving his footwork and punch power, and aims to continue his boxing career.
