Currently, Dr. Allen Collins has his own private practice and serves as a Emeritus Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at New York City’s New York University School of Medicine. Dr. Allen Collins earned his Doctor of Medicine degree at the Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1968, and went on to earn a Master's degree in Public Health at Columbia University in 1974. Dr. Allen Collins completed his mixed medical internship in 1969 at the United States Public Health Service Hospital in Boston and his adult psychiatric residency in 1972 at the New York State Psychiatric Institute/Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City.

 

In addition to his postgraduate medical training, Dr. Allen Collins completed a family and couples therapy training program at the Roosevelt Hospital Center in 1971-1972 and his psychoanalytic training at the William Alanson White Institute of Psychiatry in 1980. Dr. Allen Collins has been working in New York City ever since graduating from his reesidency training program providing psychiatric services to patients and training students and psychiatric residents in various teaching capacities at the university level since 1973, when he was a Teaching Fellow at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons’ Division of Social and Community Psychiatry. He has been on the teaching faculties of the New York Medical College, Cornell University Medical College and the NYU School of Medicine for over thirty years.Dr. Allen Collins is a licensed physician in both New York and New Jersey, has been a New York State Qualified Psychiatrist since 1973, and has maintained his Board Certification in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology since 1975.
