About Algeania Freeman

With over three decades of experience as an educator and college administrator, Algeania Freeman, Ph.D. is a demonstrated leader and an accomplished professional. Currently, as the Chief Executive Officer of the Freeman Group, Inc., Dr. Algeania Freeman applies fiscal and professional development expertise gained during her lengthy career as an academic administrator to the goals of her consulting clients.

The recent President of Martin University in Indianapolis, Freeman began her career as an educator at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, where she served as Professor and Chairperson for the Department of Speech, Communication, and Theatre Arts. Subsequently, Dr. Algeania Freeman accepted a faculty position as a professor and department chair at Norfolk State University (NSU) in Norfolk, Virginia. She would return to NSU in later non-consecutive positions as the Executive Director of a University foundation, then Acting Vice President of Advancement. In all, Freeman has devoted over 16 years to positions at NSU through 2001.

Between 1995 and 2008, Freeman held significant positions with numerous other colleges and universities nationwide. In several instances, she was the first woman or the first African American woman to hold such responsibilities. Among these are positions as Dean of the College of Public and Allied Health at East Tennessee State University, Assistant Vice President of Academic Planning and Program Development for Morgan State University, Dean of the Consumer & Health Sciences Division at Orange Coast College, Vice President for Advancement and Program Development with Southern California College (now Vanguard University), and President of Livingstone College.

Widely recognized for her many professional accomplishments, Dr. Algeania Freeman is a former finalist for the White House Fellows Program. During her career, she has secured and managed over $40 million in external funding from various trusts and foundations.
