About Alexander Castro

Software pioneer Alexander Castro has served in a leadership capacity at some of the world’s largest and most widely recognized technology companies. He began his career with Trilogy, Inc., based in Austin, Texas. During his time there, Mr. Castro developed the go-to-market strategy for the firm’s award-winning e-business product line. He also spearheaded the deployment of a customer relationship management (CRM) solution for Toyota Motor Corporation.

Recruited to Microsoft Corporation in 1998, Alexander Castro worked in product management for the company’s MSN.com website before leading the team that developed Microsoft CRM, the company’s first software product targeting the business market. Under his direction, the CRM software package grew quickly, and today generates annual revenues in excess of $500 million. Throughout his eight years with the Redmond, Washington-based software giant, Mr. Castro worked on high-visibility initiatives and led a variety of teams. In 2002, he gained a promotion to Group Program Manager for MSN Entertainment, at that time one of the largest Internet-based services providing music streaming and videos. Later, Alexander Castro briefly carried out the duties of General Manager, where he generated a 28 percent increase in revenue and 34 percent increase in page views. Recognizing his outstanding performance, Microsoft repeatedly honored him with its Gold Star awards. In 2004, Mr. Castro joined Amazon.com, Inc., where he played a key role in its Web Services division and orchestrated the release of Mechanical Turk, a crowd-sourcing website.

After leaving Amazon.com, Alexander Castro shifted his focus to his own enterprise. Drawing on his extensive experience with software development and online platforms, Mr. Castro created cloud-based tools for businesses to encode, manage, publish, and syndicate videos online. In 2006, he founded Delve Networks, Inc., to sell these services. Headquartered in Seattle, the start-up rapidly experienced success, winning high-profile customers such as the United States Department of Defense, McGraw-Hill Companies, Inc., ESPN, Lego, Hallmark Cards, Inc., Cleveland Clinic, and the University of Maryland. Mr. Castro also forged key partnerships with online video marketers, including YuMe, adap.tv, AOL’s ADTECH, and ScanScout Inc. Mr. Castro’s accomplishments drew the attention of Limelight Networks, Inc., a publicly traded provider of cloud-based services. In 2010, he sold his company to Limelight Networks, where Alexander Castro now holds a leadership role as Vice President and General Manager of the business unit devoted to video platform solutions.
