Alan Sass, widely known as Alan "TheUsher" Sass, is a professional poker player from Las Vegas, Nevada, United States. He has a total of 17 cashes throughout his poker career, with total winnings of $891,977. Alan Sass has finished in first place only one time, at the 2007 Wynn Classic No-Limit Hold'em Event 9, where he gained $154,347, and his most profitable tournament was the 2007 The Wynn Classic No Limit Hold’em tournament, where he finished second and won $284,256.
Alan Sass became interested in poker and started playing Texas Hold’em through internet while he was in the business of buying and selling collectibles online. Later on, after playing successfully for a while, he moved on to online cash games and live tournaments. His cousins turned him on to the World Poker Tour on tv, so he started playing poker at the Commerce Casino. Alan has a good reputation among live players, because he tries to be humble and learn at the tables.
Alan Sass thought that his game was awful while he was learning, but managed to achieve significant improvement. For the purpose he bought a bunch of poker books and carefully studied them. He explains his good performance with his memory for players, his adaptiveness at the table, and tight management of his bankroll.
The nickname “The Usher” Alan adapted from the cable television show Carnivale. He liked it, because the character in the series appeared to be nice, but in fact was murderous. His goal is to win a World Poker tour title and he says is more important to him than winning money. He has quite a success at doing that, cashing in six World Series of Poker events and seven World Poker Tour tournaments. Alan also has the support of his family throughout his successful poker carrier.
