About A Dogs Day Out

Charles Richardson’s zeal for dogs extends to recent endeavors as General Manager and Partner of A Dog’s Day Out, LLC. A Dog’s Day Out (ADDO) in Alexandria and Vienna (Fairfax County), Virginia, offers cage-free dog daycare, boarding, and grooming in a dog-loving setting. Some of the amenities at A Dog's Day Out include an open floor plan separated by attractive white picket fencing instead of solid walls. There are lots of trees in each play area at A Dog’s Day Out, grouped together to provide all dogs an appropriate place where they can feel comfortable going to the bathroom.

A Dog’s Day Out, which serves the Washington, D.C., area, was named “Best of Pet Care” by Washingtonian magazine twice in a row. Charles Richardson oversees both locations of A Dog’s Day Out, with daily responsibilities that include overseeing personnel decisions, ordering supplies, and managing payroll.

All potential new dogs into A Dog’s Day Out must pass a 20-minute evaluation, proving they enjoy the company of their new friends. Each new dog must be, at a minimum, more than three months old and have received the first three rounds of booster shots. New dogs to A Dog’s Day Out must be social as well as spayed or neutered (if over seven months old).

The four-legged clients at A Dog’s Day Out are grouped according to size, and alpha dogs that are overly energetic may not pass the evaluation. This ensures a safe environment for all occupants at A Dog's Day Out.

Prior to Charles founding A Dog’s Day Out (with his father), he established a prior company (with his mother) to market a pet safety product that he invented and patented, named “Flasher.” Flasher is a product for people and their pets, which weighs less than two ounces and can be seen up to one mile away in total darkness. Flashers are worn by people and pets during low light or total darkness conditions, in order to be seen by others. Charles Richardson appeared on QVC selling Flasher multiple times in 1999 to promote his product.
