About Adam Korol


Adam Korol, a professional rower, was born on August 20, 1974 in Gdansk, Poland. He studied at the Academy of Physical Education in Gdansk and is fluent in English, Polish, and Russian. Adam Korol is married, and his wife, Dagmara, is also a former rower. He has a daughter named Julia, who is eight years old, and his son Szymon is three. He is currently working as an assistant in the sports faculty at his alma mater.


Adam Korol comes from a family of rowers and started with rowing at the tender age of fourteen. It was his parents, rowers themselves, who introduced him to the Gdansk Rowing Club RKS Stoczniowiec.


Adam Korol made his debut for Poland in 1992 and his first major success came in 2001 in the Men's Quadruple Sculls without Coxswain event, where he was part of the team that finished in the first spot.


Adam Korol took the sporting world by storm by winning the Men’s Quadruple Scull event at the World Championship held in Gifu, Japan in 2005. During this season, he was also part of the team that won the European championship thrice. In fact, Poland has never lost in a major event since 2005, and Adam Korol has been credited for these victories.


His success story continued in 2008, when he was instrumental in the Polish team winning the Men’s Quadruple Sculls without Coxswain Final A with a record time of 51:41.33. Adam Korol, a member of the AZS AWiF club, has dazzled the rowing arena by winning three gold, one silver, and two bronze medals in the World Rowing Championships. He has also collected six gold, three silver, and three bronze medals in the Rowing World Cups.


At the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Adam Korol participated in the Men's Quadruple Sculls event and contributed to the team’s first-place finish. For his formidable effort along with his team, they walked home with the Olympic gold medal.


Adam Korol loves cross-country skiing, and also enjoys working out at the gymnasium, and training on ergometers. Besides rowing, he shows keen interest in other events such as basketball, tennis, and soccer. His hobbies include cars, computers, movies, and books.
