Abhishek Nayar is an Indian cricketer, who was born on October 8, 1983 in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh. He is a left-handed batsman known for his long-standing and hard-hitting capabilities, and he is also a medium-paced bowler. Abhishek Nayar has a unique batting style and his ability to bat at any position of the batting has helped his team enormously. His consistent performances have gained the attention of the national selection committee and he will be included in the Indian national Test and One Day International (ODI) teams in the near future.
During the 2005-06 season, Abhishek Nayar made his First-class debut for the Mumbai team and was instrumental in the team’s success at the 2006 Ranji Trophy campaign. In 2006, he played in a match against the Gujarat state team and scored 97 runs. Abhishek Nayar went on to make his maiden First-class century in the 2007 Mohammad Nissar Trophy, when he scored a huge 152 against the Karachi Urbans team from Pakistan. In November 2007, Abhishek Nayar struck a century in the Ranji Trophy tournament, scoring 105 off just 85 deliveries playing in the Super League match against Tamil Nadu. His commendable score consisted of thirteen boundaries and two sixes and gave his team a first-inning lead of 111 over the opponents. The following month, in a match against the Maharashtra team, Abhishek Nayar showed his bowling capabilities by claiming five wickets in about thirty four overs, out of which eight were maidens.
During the 2003-04 season, he made his debut in List A matches and featured in 34 matches amassing 707 runs with one century and half-century. He represented the India A team during the 2008-09 A Team Triangular Series and on September 26, 2008 in the final match against the Australian team, Abhishek Nayar claimed two wickets.
On April 3, 2007, he made his Twenty20 (T20) debut for the Mumbai team in a match against Baroda. Early in 2008, Abhishek Nayar was purchased by the Reliance Industries owned - Mumbai Indians team to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) tournament under the captaincy of the Indian Little Master, Sachin Tendulkar. Abhishek Nayar played in fourteen matches during the tournament and scored a maximum of 45, which was against Chennai Super Kings. He amassed 206 runs during the IPL matches and also took four catches and a wicket.
