Abdur Razzak, nicknamed ‘Raj’, is a Bangladesh cricket player, who was born on June 15, 1982 in Khulna. He is a slow left-arm orthodox spin bowler and a left-handed batsman.


On April 16, 2006, he began his Test career during the Australian cricket team tour of Bangladesh. As of the year 2008, Abdur Razzak has played three Test matches and claimed two wickets with a bowling average of 168.50. He scored 84 runs; top score 33 with a batting average at 21.00. The last Test match that he played was against South Africa on February 29, 2008.


Abdur Razzak made his One Day International (ODI) debut on July 16, 2004 in a match against Hong Kong at the Asia Cup. He took three wickets giving just 17 runs in his debut match in Colombo. He made his best ODI batting score of 21 against India at the 2004 Asia Cup. He was a part of the national team, which participated in the five-match ODI against Zimbabwe in 2004. Abdur Razzak took a total of 15 wickets during the ODI series, including seven wickets for 17 runs in the third ODI match. His brilliant bowling at the batting pitch of the Dhaka’s Bangabandhu National Stadium in the third ODI match helped Bangladesh to win the game. In December 2006, he took five Zimbabwe wickets for 33 runs and achieved his career best-figures in ODI at Bogra. Having played 76 ODIs as of 2008, Abdur Razzak scored 417 runs at a batting average of 14.89 and has taken 106 wickets with a bowling average of 26.44.


He represented the Khulna Division at the Bangladeshi domestic level cricket and performed well in his maiden season fetching the National Cricket title in the 2001-02 season. Abdur Razzak holds a bowling figure of seven wickets for eleven runs in 41 First-class cricket matches.


Abdur Razzak signed-in for a price of $120,000 and played for the Royal Challengers, Bangalore team, in the Indian Premier League (IPL) Twenty20 (T20) 2008 season. He has played in eight T20 matches with the best bowling figure of three wickets for 17 runs in his T20 career.


According to the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Cricket Rankings for current bowlers in ODIs, Abdur Razzak secured the 8th position on April 4, 2007.
