Shire Structures
Abdullah Ekinci has been employed by Shire Consulting as a Graduate Engineer since 1st July 2007. During this time Abdullah has worked on a number of different Engineering projects including new buildings and refurbishment work. In addition to the general technical work normally carried out by Graduate Engineers, Abdullah has also had responsibility for helping Shire Consultings sister company, Shire Structures with the development of their Shire Pile and Quickbase projects.
Shire Piles are a new type of Helical pile designed by Shire Structures. Abdullah has responsibility for the design and specification of Shire piling schemes. Some of these schemes are for new build application and others are for the repair of subsidence damaged properties. The schemes are installed by Shire Structures own workforce and Abdullah assists with the organisation and management of the site teams. Alternative designs for the piles are also being developed and Abdullah takes responsibility for visiting construction sites, installing trial piles and carrying out compression testing. The test results are then recorded and evaluated.
Quickbase is a new system of prefabricated foundations for lightweight structures which has been developed by Shire Structures. Abdullah is assisting with the design and development of this system, evaluation of alternative designs, costings, production of standard details and university testing.
From his work with Shire Consulting we believe that Abdullah has a good general understanding of Civil Engineering applications and has started to learn the basic skills of project management
